Anyone who has back issues is highly recommended to take this class. Practicing with the hammock gives you the chance to hang freely, allowing your spine to lengthen and to increase strength and flexibility as well as bring you greater awareness of your body.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga is a modern type of yoga which combines the traditional yoga poses, pilates and dance with the use of a hammock as a tool to help students achieve and deepen traditional yoga positions.

The weight of the body is either partially or fully supported by the hammock as you move through a variety of yoga postures including inversions, hip openers, hamstring stretches, and restorative postures. The hammock provides a unique and fun take on traditional yoga, while also allowing students with limited mobility the ability to deepen or hold postures that would have previously been inaccessible.

Anecdotal evidence indicates that by facilitating bending and stretching of the whole body during exercise, muscles and joints will be strengthened and rehabilitated, and the spine decompressed as the body hangs freely.

Aerial yoga also helps to build Core power and improve balance, flexibility, stability and endurance.

As with other forms of active exercise, the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems are improved through increased blood circulation.

Aerial Yoga Therapy

Aerial Yoga Therapy is one of the aerial conditioning concepts that keep the body healthy, treats patients with chronic pain or acute injuries. It is a form of somatics that involves moving the compromised joint very slowly to reeducate the neuro -muscular system. Through this slow movement, the body finds more efficient movement patterns that often result in pain relief.
